In a video address to a meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Alliance (PDM), an alliance of opposition parties in Pakistan, in Gujranwala, Punjab, Nawaz Sharif, the three-time Prime Minister of Pakistan, called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. He accused the government of sabotaging his government and manipulating Prime Minister Imran Khan to bring him to power.
This is not the first time that PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has criticized institutions other than the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Earlier, Nawaz Sharif had said in an all-party conference under the PDM that he was not competing with Prime Minister Imran Khan. His struggle is against those who brought Imran Khan.
At a meeting of the PML-N’s central working committee on September 30 last month, Nawaz Sharif said that during the PTI sit-in in 2014, the then ISI chief, Lieutenant General Zaheerul Islam, sent a message to him to resign. Give Otherwise martial law may be instituted in the country. However, he flatly refused to resign.
Later, Lt. Gen. (retd) Zaheerul Islam denied the allegation in an interview with The News.
Opponents of Nawaz Sharif’s Establishment, which was considered close to the Establishment in the past, say that there comes a time in every man’s life when he admits his mistakes in a way that changes his attitude Brings However, many analysts believe that when Nawaz Sharif saw that he was not getting NRO from the government, he started targeting the establishment.
Reasons for anti-establishment rhetoric
Defense analyst Lt. Gen. (retd) Amjad Shoaib said that Muhammad Zubair and Shahbaz Sharif were given the task of getting NRO after Nawaz Sharif left the country for treatment.
He said he was trying to get an apology or NRO through the back channel and somehow persuade the army chief. Those who persuade Prime Minister Imran Khan for NRO to drop the case against him and Maryam Nawaz to go abroad.
Amjad Shoaib further said that as long as efforts to get NRO continue. Nawaz Sharif remained silent. But when these efforts failed, then it was thought that the boats had been burnt down and then the ISPR made it public that Muhammad Zubair had come and been doing this.
According to him, Nawaz Sharif made such statements after his failure.
Regarding Nawaz Sharif’s relationship with the Establishment, senior journalist Iftikhar Ahmed says that there comes a time in every man’s life when he admits his mistakes in his life in such a way that he changes his attitude.
Analyst Iftikhar Ahmed said that Nawaz Sharif’s anti-establishment rhetoric was due to inflation, unemployment and lack of governance.
He further said that if these problems had not arisen, the opponents of Imran Khan might not have been able to come together.
Fluctuations in the relationship between Nawaz Sharif and the Establishment
Iftikhar Ahmed said that today ordinary people ask the question that the person who was brought into the politics of Punjab on the recommendation of General Jilani and was given the ministry. How did that person change now? While the position of this man (Nawaz Sharif) in the time of Zia-ul-Haq was that his age should also affect President Zia-ul-Haq.
Iftikhar Ahmed said that in the past when the establishment should have got rid of the PPP, then the establishment supported Nawaz Sharif in every possible way.
He further said that the differences between Nawaz Sharif and the Army Chief. Nawaz Sharif has turned these differences into a slogan and that slogan is that you respect the vote. Those who are elected by the people who become the Prime Minister. All other institutions are their ‘subordinates’.
According to him, such an institution. In which there is a thought not for today but for years that they are not ‘subordinates’.
He said that this is a question which has not been answered till date.
Amjad Shoaib said about Nawaz Sharif’s relationship with the establishment that Nawaz Sharif seeks power where there is no one to ask. While the state is run by institutions and institutions have their own rules and regulations.
Regarding Pakistan’s nuclear detonation, Amjad Shoaib said that in the second term of Nawaz Sharif, the Army had noticed that there was no such forum for making a big decision like detonating a nuclear bomb. So the then corps commanders forced the then Army Chief General Jahangir Karamat to advise the Prime Minister to form a National Security Council.
General Amjad Shoaib said that the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did not agree to the proposal of the Army Chief and said that in this way his powers would be reduced and the resignation of the Army Chief was accepted.
The role of the Establishment in sending Nawaz Sharif abroad for treatment
Iftikhar Ahmed said that if the words of Prime Minister Imran Khan are listened to carefully and the sorrow and regret they express. It seems that there was a difference of opinion between Imran Khan and those who brought Imran Khan in this issue.
Retired General Amjad Shoaib said that if the Establishment had a role in sending Nawaz Sharif abroad, it meant that the courts were subject to the Establishment.
He further said that if the Establishment had been involved in this matter, the case of Muhammad Zubair would not have been uncovered.
Opposition rallies can bring down the government?
Amjad Shoaib said that the Establishment would not take any unconstitutional steps and the Establishment would ask the government to counter this issue politically.
He said that after Musharraf, the chance of taking unconstitutional action by the army was gone.
Amjad Shoaib said that he often thinks that if the government is somehow overthrown and a caretaker government comes to power by holding new elections. So how can there be accountability in this case which is sorely needed.
According to him, in such a situation, one should go to the Supreme Court and say that the caretaker government has three months. Given the situation, the caretaker government should be given a long time and if the Supreme Court agrees, it should deal with all cases of corruption.
On the other hand, Iftikhar Ahmed said that one should pray that things do not get worse or that there is no such incident that things get worse or fall apart.
According to him, the country cannot afford any further loss.
